Soy-Ginger Planked Chicken

All recipes require use of one pre-soaked grilling plank, prepared  according to instructions.

  • 3 whole skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions
  • 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves of garlic minced


  1. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, green onions, ginger an garlic.
  2. Add chicken, tossing to evenly cover with marinade.
  3. Cover and place in refrigerator for at least one hour (and up to 24 hours).
  4. Drain chicken and discard marinade. Place chicken on soaked plank and place on medium hot grill.
  5. Close lid and grill for 30-40 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.

    Pictures shows that I can do this with a leg and thigh attached. What is timing and do I need to skin the whole leg?
    Love the salmon done this way. It is my favorite “company” recipe.

    If you skin skin leave it on. You can sear the skin on the BBQ prior to planking. With the bone in you are going to increase your cooking time. You may be looking at about an hour. As always check to ensure chicken is no longer pink.
